The Tinker Pearce-Bladeart Departure

This sword came about as a result of a request from Larry Brahms at Bladeart- a while back around Christmas-time he sent me a Laci Szabo design made by Black Cloud and asked it I could make them for him (with full permission from Laci.)  I said  that I would want to modify the design to better meet my understanding of what a sword is and how it should work.  I sent a prototype for Larry and Laci to examine.  Larry liked it, but Laci felt that the changes I had made to the design made it a different sword and told us we could proceed with making them if we pleased, so Larry commissioned a limited edition of 25 swords.

The steel is 5160 "H" spring steel which is Marquenched and differentially tempered. HRc 58-60 at the cutting edge and HRc 45-48 at the spine and tang.
Both edges and 'false edge' are fully sharpened.  Blade is 16.5 inches- false edge is 8.5 inches

Overall length is 26.75"
Weight: 33 ounces
COG: approx 1 inch from base of the blade
Scales are either Cocobolo or Micarta and are removable with an Allen wrench
Standard scabbard is single-seam Black leather
The 'standard'  sword comes in 'Bright' finish with Cocobolo scales.
The next group of swords will start with #12 of 25

Larry and I donated one of these swords to USNs Good Cause Auctions-  more pics can be viewed here.

The Departure can be order specially prepared as is Larry's personal sword pictured below with special scabbard:
