Items on Consignment
A number of customers have
recently asked me to place items for sale on their behalf. Hard
times, medical bills, financing a new sword purchase or whatever, these
folks have decided to sell their Tinker-made knife, sword or
dagger. Some of these items are being sold at priced considerably
below what they would cost today... Typically I will post
the item with the owner's contact information; all negotiations will be
directly with the owner in these cases. I do not normally collect
a consignment fee, but if the item is in my possession I will charge
for shipping.
My wife has asked me to
request donations for a wild horse sancuary in Ca. These are the
folks that were instrumental in stopping the slaughter of BLM mustangs
and now provide a sanctuary and training/placement programs for this
Living National Treasure, the American Wild Horse. You can make
donations here- http://www.wildhorsesanctuary.org/help-donation.html

This sword is on consignment from the same fellow as the Fantasy Shortsword below. He needs to sell it to pay medical bills. He says of this sword:
"This is a very fast, well balanced blade in my book, I bought this a couple
of years ago from the Guy at Ren Fair near Philomath for around $1500, if I remember
right... Hopefully when I"m all through this I can get
you to make another one..."
From what I can recall of this sword it has a 5160 spring steel blade tempered to HRc52-54, with the shoulder and tang drawn back to HTc45-48.

The
concept of this blade was a 'developed' version of a Celtic Bronze-age
leaf blade rendered in steel. The hollow-ground blade is
differential tempered 5160 spring steel, engraved brass furniture and
a Cocobolo-wood handle. The spine was left 'rough' deliberately because
I liked the way that it looked. Provided with a black leather
scabbard. Not much bigger than a dagger but definitely handles
like a
sword!
The
original customer for this piece had a definite vision in mind for what
he wanted, but after several attempts we were unable to 'come together'
to fulfill that vision. In the end we agreed that I would simply
'make something cool' and see if he liked it. He did- but not
enough to outweigh the fact sometimes unexpected bills must be
paid! Per our agreement he is offering this piece for sale
now to recoup his original investment. The sword is currently in
his possession, and inquiries should be addressed to him at this email

Payment is to be tendered to him directly- retail on this piece would
be $1150- his asking price is $800 + Shipping

This is a used hand-sax
(#2000-114) being sold on consignment for a customer. Made (as
the serial number implies) in the year 2000 the customer is 'rotating'
his collection and wishes to sell this piece to help finance a new
sword. This knife is in overall excellent condition, but will be
full polished and resharpened prior to shipping. If this knife
were being made and sold today price would be around $350.
