Like
the longsword these swords are designed so that both the sharp and
blunt versions will perform identically in the hand, allowing people to
practice with a sword that feels and responds exactly like the 'sharp'
that they do cutting with. Particulars are much like the
longsword- marquenched 5160 spring steel blades, dismountable hilt,
cord-wrapped leather covered sandwich type hilt etc.
These swords were designed as a good representative example of
single-hand swords used from the 12th-14thC. Ideally suited to
use with a buckler as illustrated in I.33.
NEW: Some have complained
about the secondary edge bevels on the first models of the Longsword
and Bastardsword Sharps- CAS/Hanwei has heard you and obliged by
providing this sword with a rolled 'Appleseed' edge with no defined
secondary bevel!
This
not only provides a more 'period-correct' appearance but this, combined
with the thinner edge prior to sharpening, ought to increase cutting
power out of the box!
